Regular Meetings

Furukawa Evangelical Free Church holds the following regular meetings. Please see this page for access information. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sunday worship

Every Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Worship Service

It is a time to remember God the Creator and to quiet our minds on the first day of the week. The service consists mainly of hymns accompanied by the pipe organ, a message from the Bible, and prayer. After the message, there is a time of offering (freewill offering). After the service, there is a short time for chatting. In today’s busy society, where there is little time for rest and relaxation, this time to listen to the sound of the pipe organ and turn our hearts to God is a time of healing, comfort, and encouragement. First-timers are also welcome. We have Bibles and hymnals available for loan, so please come empty-handed.

Prayer Meeting

Atmosphere of Prayer Meeting

Every Thursday [morning] 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. [afternoon] 7:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

This is a time to gather and pray to God on mid-week days. Unlike worship services, we meet at tables. After singing hymns, a message from the Bible, and sharing each other’s updates and prayer requests, we break into groups of two or three and pray for each other, our families and friends, and our community and country. The number of participants is smaller than in worship services, but this makes for a more intimate atmosphere over a cup of tea. Housewives are recommended to attend in the morning, and those who have jobs are recommended to attend in the evening. Please note that there is no time of offering at the prayer meeting.

Church School (Sunday School)

Every Sunday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

It is important for each generation to apply biblical encouragement to their daily lives. Furukawa Evangelical Free Church has two church schools: an elementary school class and a junior high and high school class (JYLC). In the elementary school and younger class, Bible stories are presented in an easy-to-understand manner using visual aids so that even young children can understand. In the middle and high school student class, we strive to conduct meetings in a fun atmosphere so that middle and high school students can relax and open up to each other in order to address values and topics that are different from those of other generations, such as studies, friendships, and sexual challenges unique to the middle and high school student generation.

Eunike Meeting (Women’s Meeting)

Second Wednesday of the month, 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Eunike is a name taken from the name of a woman in the New Testament. It is a time for women to learn, share, and encourage each other on how to walk in society and in the home. Tea and snacks are provided, and the atmosphere is friendly and enjoyable. Please feel free to come out, even if you are a newcomer.
